Tired of New Years’ Resolutions or goals you forget a soon as you set them?
Here’s how to discover goals that really light you up!
If you’ve ever had a dream you didn’t achieve, let go of any self-deprecating conversations you might be having about any of it! Really, just let it go! Something didn’t yet work out as you wanted. It’s not a big deal unless you make it so! The important thing to remember is that you played at something. And hopefully, you had fun in the process, and learned something along the way! That’s awesome!
You do yourself a great disservice if you make yourself wrong for not achieving a goal. Why? Because if you make yourself wrong, you create self-doubt, not Self-belief! And if left unchecked, that way of seeing life-events can lead to resignation, and rob you of a true source of joy and aliveness, which is …. creating new, exciting experiences!
You see, your heartfelt dreams and desires are the language of your soul. They call you forth to who you truly are…. a powerful creator with absolutely unlimited potential! You are wired to desire; you are a creator who wants to grow and expand, and live life to the fullest! It’s at the heart of who you truly are! So without new goals, you stop creating, which creates a whole host of other challenges, we won’t go into right now.
Claiming the Freedom to Boldly Create!
If you’re like a lot of people, you’ve probably experienced some disappointments in the past. I’m right there with you, but let’s address that because what’s underneath the “disappointment” keeps us from creating “spring out of bed in the morning” caliber goals! The answer is found in why we’re setting the goal in the first place, and what we make it mean if we don’t achieve it!
Frustration only arises when we label something as a failure and forget that the point is to play. That means creating, and learning, for the joy of the experience! Most New Years resolutions and goals are based on “have tos” and “shoulds” . They might sound something like this … I really should lose weight, or I really have to get my finances in order. One or both of those might be true, but where is the power in that? Who would want to stay with that? It’s certainly not very exciting or empowering. But it could be!
To set powerful, enlivening goals that add beauty and enthusiasm to our lives requires two things.
1. We have to truly want it. In other words, it has to be a heartfelt dream or desire, not something we think we should, or have to do!
2. We have to be willing to believe that it’s possible to have what we really want!
Notice, I didn’t say you needed to believe it 100%, right now! The most enticing dreams and desires require a stretch. We need to grow into them, by being willing to expand our concept of what’s possible!
